AFFORDABLE HOUSING
HCCAA’s interest in Affordable Housing began in 1998, at which time the Agency applied for and received designation as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and the City of Killeen. In 1999, the first project, The Veranda at Twin Creek, was developed in partnership with the City of Killeen and developer, Mike Lankford. Since that time HCCAA has formed a subsidiary non-profit housing corporation and two for-profit corporations all for the benefit of the Affordable Housing program. The goal of the Housing program is to provide access to decent housing that is affordable to low- and moderate-income Individuals and families. All of the developments were funded primarily with Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
KILLEEN STONE RANCH APARTMENT HOMES
This affordable housing community is situated on 11 acres on Rancier Ave. in Killeen, offering 152, 1 and 2 bedroom, accessible, single story units for persons ages 55 and up. These spacious units are located within a gated community, offering tenants an abundance of amenities including covered parking, beauty shop, library, swimming pool, hot tub, laundry facilities and connections, as well as a large club house for friendly gatherings and HCCAA support services, including congregate dining. BAY CITY BAY RANCH APARTMENTS
This gated apartment community was designed to accommodate families with quality housing at affordable rates. The Killeen Veranda Housing Corporation, a for profit subsidiary of Hill Country Community Action, was formed on December 20, 1999, for the sole purpose of management and oversight of the affordable housing complex developed in partnership by Hill Country Community Action, Lankford Interests, and the City of Killeen. The project is known as The Veranda at Twin Creek located at 1101 Twin Creek Drive in Killeen.
THE VERANDA AT TWIN CREEK
This 88 unit apartment complex is designed for active persons age 60 and over, offering all the comforts you’d expect and all the conveniences you’d only hoped for in the past. Amenities include a walking trail and fitness center, pool, beauty shop, convenience store, library, computer lab and much more, as well as a club house for friendly gatherings and HCCAA support services, including congregate dining. Hill Country Community Housing Corporation was formed on September 7, 2000. It is a private, non-profit subsidiary corporation of Hill Country Community Action Association, Inc., recognized as a tax exempt entity under Section 501(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
The corporation is organized and operated exclusively for (a) assisting in providing decent housing that is affordable to low- and moderate-income people, and (b) owning property for the purpose of building or repairing housing on the property to sell without profit to a low-income or moderate-income individual or family satisfying the corporation eligibility requirement or to rent without profit to such individual or family, and (c) engaging in the building, repair, and the sale or rental of housing as described in (b) above and related activities.

The Crockett Cole Creek Housing Corporation formed on December 10, 2003 is a subsidiary of Hill Country Community Housing Corporation. Its sole purpose is to provide management and oversight of the affordable housing project developed in partnership by Hill Country Community Housing Corporation and Lankford Interests. The project is known as Crockett Cole Creek Apartments located in Crockett, Texas.
CROCKETT COLE CREEK APARTMENTS
The Crockett Cole Creek development serves families with 64 units of affordable, quality housing. One, two, and three bedroom units are available to families or persons seeking affordable housing in the Crockett area.
